Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), a premier institute related to welding since its conception in 1966, regularly organizes under the International Institute of Welding events to foster development of welding science, technology and engineering in line with international standards which are globally recognized and accepted.

The IIW International congress 2014 was held concurrently with Weld India 2014 - 8th International Exhibition on "Welding, Cutting, Fabrication, Manufacturing, Precision Metal Forming, Chemical Coating, Metallurgy, Materials, Testing, Training and Education," in association with FABTECH at Pragati Maidan from 10 - 12 April 2014. National Level Competitions for the Best Welders (Structural and Plate) and Best Welding Engineer were also a part of this congress. The competition was held among the winners of State level competition, participated by IGCAR (Chennai), L&T (Powai), Godrej (Vikroli), Alstom (Durgapur) & Inox India Ltd. Kalol.
 
INOXCVA participant, Mr. Chandan Sharma was adjudged “Best Welding Engineer of India” during the Best National Welding Engineer Competition. He received a cash award of Rs. 7,000 and a certificate sponsored by ELCA Laboratories, Maharashtra.
