After successfully commissioning India’s 1st LNG project at General Motors, Gujarat, INOXCVA expanded its footprint to the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra. In April 2012, we commissioned network independent LNG facilities at Modern Insulators Limited (MIL), near the foothills of Mt. Abu (around 500 km north of the LNG Terminal) and at Vidushi Wires Pvt. Ltd. (VWPL), located on the outskirts of Mumbai (around 450 km south of the LNG Terminal).
The MIL facility has a storage capacity of 100 m3, catering to a demand of 17.5 tones LNG per day. Prior to LNG, MIL was using a mix of Propane, SKO and HSD as alternate fuels. The commissioning of the LNG facility, has resulted in MIL becoming the 1st customer, outside a small pocket in north-east Rajasthan, to switch to Natural Gas.MIL would also save over 25,000 tones in Carbon emissions.
Even though VWPL is located in a vicinity receiving piped natural gas supply, it did not have access to the pipeline grid. But today the LNG facility at VWPL has storage capacity of 20m3 for a contracted demand of around 75 tones per month. This will not only reduce its fuel expenses, but would reduce its carbon footprint in excess of3, 000 tones over the contract period.
