INOXCVA Completes Manufacturing of Group-Y Cryolines & Group-W Warmlines for the Prestigious ITER Project

Vadodara, 29th July, 2021. Indian multinational and one of the world’s leading manufacturer of cryogenic technology equipment and solutions, INOXCVA, today announced the completion of the manufacturing of Group-Y Cryolines & Group-W Warmlines for the Prestigious ITER Project, one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today to provide cheaper energy to the whole world. The last shipment of Cryolines and Warmlines was carried out by Mr U.K. Baruah, Project Director of ITER India and Mr Siddharth Jain, Executive Director, INOXCVA along with other team members of INOX India and ITER India. Dignitaries from Department of Atomic Energy included Mr. K.N. Vyas, Dr. R. B. Grover, Dr. S.K.Jain as well as ITER Director General Dr. Bernard Bigot participated in the event virtually and applauded the engineering & manufacturing capabilities of INOXCVA and the quality and promptness of project related deliveries. 

These Cryolines and Warmlines have been designed and manufactured indigenously in the newly developed manufacturing facility near Kalol in Gujarat. Group-Y Cryolines, having a total network of ~4 km in length, carry cryogens at 4 K and 80 K temperature level and connect various cryogenic equipment with the applications at ITER. Warmlines, having a network of ~6 km in length, carry Nitrogen and Helium gas at room temperature and connect various cryogenic equipment. The challenging goal of making vacuum and super insulated Cryolines having process pipes up to three and diameter up to 700 mm has been successfully completed according to the ITER schedule and quality requirements. The manufacturing was undertaken after rigorous design reviews and the successful qualification test of prototype Cryolines with 1:1 lateral scale of Torus & Cryostat Cryopump Cryolines of 28 m length.

ITER, a project undertaken by 7 member countries, is one of the largest experimental efforts underway in the south of France at Cadarache with an aim to demonstrate nuclear fusion as a clean green source of unlimited energy. India’s contribution to ITER includes delivery of 9 in-kind packages to ITER. Each of the package to be delivered involves first of its kind development of materials, machining & technologies and quality to meet with the stringent nuclear safety norms of the French regulatory board and also ensure that the components work for the life time of ITER. INOXCVA was awarded the prestigious contract to design, manufacture, supply and install Cryolines and Warmlines for ITER project.

Mr. U.K. Baruah, Project Director of ITER India added, “ITER Group Y cryolines and Warmlines Project was awarded to INOX India in 2014-2015 and since then both the teams from ITER India and INOX India have been working closely to make this project a success and today we are proud to celebrate the flag off ceremony of last shipment to ITER France. India is an active member in ITER project and these cryolines and Warmlines are part of in-kind contribution from India.”

 

Mr. Rajkumar Panjwani, President, Cryo Scientific Division – INOXCVA said, “Group Y cryolines and Warmlines project executed by Cryoscientific Division of INOX has put us on a different pedestal.
